  • Issue with import to GDEVELOP

I have hit a major problem with my learning Spine and implimenting it into my games in GDEVELOP. I have tried lots of things but have no idea how to fix this and have found no solutions.

What version of Spine are you using to export? What version of Spine exports does GDEVELOP support?

I am using the latest version of Spine (I purchased this month). Over in Gdevelop the last up date Spine was announced at Gdevelop they say this was built by the Spine team not Gdevelop so they do not offer specifics in there documentation. They have Spine object in the main list bit only one example again built I believe built by the Spine team.

Gdevelop is not officially supported by us. We provide generic runtimes that others can integrate into their game toolkits. It could be that they did this (which is the next best thing from us doing the same). In that case they should be able to tell you what version of our Spine Runtimes they integrated. You'll need to use the same version of the Spine editor to export your skeleton data. Rolling back to older Spine versions is not always possible (eg 4.2 has physics but 4.1 doesn't). Ideally Gdevelop updates their integration to the latest Spine Runtimes version, currently 4.2. If they support 4.1, it should be easy to move to 4.2.


I wasn't sure how to find/change to a different version but eventually got there (it was in a really handy place in the end).

Changing to 4.1 worked - so will leave this here for anyone who is interested 🙂
